Just recently I have been to Tioman Island in Malaysia (also check http://wikitravel.org/en/Tioman). I went there with a friend (Mehmet) and stayed 2 days. We went there from Singapore and the trip was almost unplanned. Tioman MapFirst we took bus to Johor Bahru from Bugis, Singapore (paid 5 SGD) at 9am, then from Johor Bahru we took another bus to Mersing (paid 20 RM from Johor Bahru bus terminal). In the middle of the trip bus had some trouble and we waited for a mechanic and it was around 4pm when we reached to Mersing bus terminal. Bus driver knew that we were going to Tioman Island and showed us the agency right there which was Bluewater agency. Thinking we were late already we just get in agency. Agency told us almost all hotels are booked and they have only a few available rooms. Tioman Island, MalaysiaOne was in Nipah and the other was in Panuba. A room in Nipah without air-conditioner was 60RM, and 165+20RM in Panuba. The room in Panuba was the most expensive among others since it has TV, air-conditioner, mini fridge and 2 double beds. Also they provided our round-trip ferry ticket to the island. It was 370RM in total for 2 days. I am sure a more planned holiday would cost much less. Ferry trip took like 2 hours to island. Nipah was silent with a nice beach, Panuba was a higher class place comparing to Nipah in terms of residence, but I think beach in Nipah was better. So first day we spent in Nipah then second day in Panuba. Although almost noting was planned, it was definitely fun… We did snorkeling, kayaking (or canoeing) and swam till we were exhausted…
