GMail Feature Request
Posted: December 30th, 2010 | Author: YuSuF | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: gmail | 4 Comments »Seriously I need this: I don’t want to remember that large number and check if it has increased to understand a new mail arrived or not. Until the day browsers support out of the window notifications, I want GMail to support a way to indicate that a new mail arrived or not via taskbar title.
It could be something like this:
Initial state: Inbox (4018) …
A new mail arrived: Inbox (4019*) …
Window is focused for N seconds: Inbox (4019) …
UPDATE: Thanks to priority inbox, this is no longer a problem for me!

YuSuF,
I uses Google Talk in my Traybar to have notification of new mails.
If the icon is blank, nothing new. If a red “M” is displayed new mails are arrived.
See http://www.google.com/talk
Just try
http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_windows.html
or if you use Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/173/
or even install GTalk software

@Adriano
Do you keep unread mails in your inbox, or always mark them as read?
@Cedric
Thanks, I’ll check those ;)
