Innova

Innova is definitely one of the best software companies in Turkey. Innova has software solutions in wide variety of sectors. From banking to manufacturing, from communication to automotive. Government, military, oil, energy and more… Innova has been awarded many times… But for me most important thing about Innova is that I started my career in this company. Although I worked for AGC Software as a part time employee during my last year in school Innova can be considered my first real work experience in the wild world of software. I joined Innova right after I graduate, and today Innova and Innova employees have great impact on me. I started working as .NET developer with Software Engineer title in August 2007 and leaved the company in April 2009 for my current job. 1 year and 8 months…

Right after I joined Innova I started working for kiosk solutions section. The project was for one the biggest banks of Turkey; Akbank. The project was absolutely innovative; credit kiosk… An award winning one… Although project was about to over, I got chance to learn lots of things. I worked for this kiosk project for 4 months. But for me the biggest experience came by multimedia street phone… All the hardware and software R&D belongs to Innova engineers; here is a quote from Innova web page;

Turkey’s new-generation payphones will be offering users on the street a host of innovative new features such as video telephony, internet access, e-mail, instant photography, SMS messaging and city life information services. Every kiosk will also serve as a hotspot for Wi-Fi internet access.

Among the hardware features with which the kiosks will be equipped are touchscreens, instant access function keys, keyboard and pinpad for the secure entry of passwords etc. There will be a thermal printer capable of printing out receipts for transactions that are paid for by credit card. Users will also be able to store copies of e-mails and other materials that they download from the internet on their own storage devices attachable to the kiosks’ media card readers and USB ports.

This is the visible side of the product and absolutely creative… But I and a couple of colleagues worked for the server side of the project. These phones can be managed, monitored and customizable from a single web portal software, and that is where I and web team have taken place… Simple tasks like restarting whole machine, sending simple commands like volume adjustment, updating whole software, changing user interface and content, adding advertisements in a schedule are features of the portal. And of course inventory management, log and report viewing, diagnostics, tariff management and many basic features are included…

Thanks to Innova and Innova employees especially to Orhan Eksi as project manager and Ahmet Ozturk, Erol Ozturk, Gokmen Bulut, Sadik Umurlu, Selim Aytuna, Serhat Ozgel, Ufuk Arslan as great engineers from istanbul office and many others from both Istanbul and Ankara offices… We rocked!!!…
